Import brings in contacts only. It does not create transactions or tasks. Start with a small test file so you can confirm the column mapping before importing thousands of rows.
Before you start
- A CSV file of 5 MB or less and 5,000 rows or fewer. Split a larger export into batches.
Steps
- Step 1: Open Contacts and choose Import, then upload your CSV.
- Step 2: Review the preview. Check how columns map to standard and custom fields, and read any values flagged as not matching your lists.
- Step 3: Fix flagged values — add the missing option in Custom Lists, or correct the CSV and re-upload.
- Step 4: Decide what to do with any detected duplicates.
- Step 5: Commit the import. A failed-row report is kept if some rows could not be imported, so you can fix and re-import just those.
What success looks like
- The imported contacts appear in Contacts with the right field values and assignment.
- Any rows that failed are listed in a failed-row report rather than silently dropped.
Common problems
- Values show as errors in the preview.
- They do not match an existing custom list option. Add the option in Settings → Custom Lists, or change the value in the CSV, then re-run the preview.
- The file will not upload.
- Check the 5 MB / 5,000-row limits and that the file is a real CSV (comma-separated, UTF-8).
Good to know
- Extra columns that do not map to a field are ignored, not imported.
